Charge Management Rule Actions

Charge Management (CM) is a very popular System feature used to flag Encounters that need to be reviewed and/or edited before Claims are submitted. A frequent request has been to add functionality to CM to automate the desired Claim edits.

A new Actions panel has been added to Charge Management, which can be used to automate Claim modifications. 

  • This will enable you to automate Encounter/Claim modifications without contacting Support to set up edits on your behalf.
  • Example: If the Rendering Provider needs to be in Loop 2420A, the Charge Management Actions feature can be used to accomplish this.

Automatically Apply Interest

To enhance productivity, the ability to automatically apply Interest on ERAs is now available.

  • If the Interest is reported at the Encounter level, it will post to the Encounter shown on the EOB.
  • If the Interest is not reported at the Encounter level, all Interest on the ERA can be auto-posted:
  • To the first line of the first Encounter on the Remit; or
  • To a "slush" account.

Auto-Post ERA Takebacks

For time efficiency, an ERA Takeback will now auto-post if it meets certain conditions.

  1. If it is in the body of the Remit.
  2. The Insurance on the Takeback is the same as the Insurance where the Payment was originally posted.
    1. Even if the Insurance Profile has changed since the Payment was posted to the previous Insurance Profile, it will Post to the previous Insurance as long as the Insurance is the same.
  3. If the Procedure Code, CARC, and Amount are the same as the previously posted Payment on the same Insurance. Learn MoreAuto-Post ERA Refunds/Takebacks


Balance Forward Line on Invoices

The Balance Forward lines on Invoices have been grouped by Invoice number for easier identification of previous Invoices that still have a balance.

Ability to Send Employers to Collections and Remove Multiple Encounters from Collections

Employers can now be sent to Collections using the existing Pre-Collections process. Additionally, multiple Employer Encounters can be removed from the In Collections list screen.

Automatically Refund in Credit Management

This features allows you to Post Multiple Refunds in one step, which provides a more efficient way to work your Patient, Insurance, and Invoice Refunds. When the Refunds are auto-posted, a Print Checks list is created where Refund checks can be printed.

County Field Enhancement

If the County field is blank, you can now use the City field to add the corresponding County. If a City does not exist in the System City list, you can add the City and the County.

Add Procedure Codes to the Anesthesia Time Units Profile

Attach Procedure Codes to an Anesthesia Time Units Profile to choose how Units are calculated based on the Procedure Code.

Anesthesia Modifier 22 Unit Increase

When Modifier 22 is applied to an Anesthesia Claim, it will automatically increase the Base Units by the specific number selected in the Time Unit Calculation Settings.


Additional Date Span Options on the CAQ

The following Date Span options have been added to the CAQ:

  • Previous weekday
  • Previous Weekend
  • Next Weekday
  • Next Weekend


Diagnosis Codes on the Patient Ledger

The ability to Include or exclude Diagnosis Codes and their descriptions has been added to the Patient Ledger.


Filters on Remit Tasks

The following filters have been added to the Remit Tasks screen:

  • Procedure Code, Procedure Code Reporting Group, Denial Code, Balance, Billing Provider, Billing Reporting Group, Rending Provider, Rendering Reporting Group, Facility, and Facility Reporting Group.

Insurance Library - Taxonomy Selection to print on HCFA/CMS1500

The HCFA Group Taxonomy field has been added to the Insurance Settings panel on the Modify Insurance screen.

  • The Group Taxonomy will print on the HCFA (Paper Claim) in Box 33b or in Box 19.
