Appointment Shells


Appointment Shells is a Calendar option that opens a view of the types of Appointment Slots that are available. The User can Add/Modify/View Concurrent Appointments and identify the number of Appointments and duration. The Appointment Shells reflect your Slots, Build, and Rules Setup.


Slot Criteria

  • Maximum Concurrent Appointments on a specific Slot Type.
  • Appointment Types that can be scheduled for the Slot Type.

In the example below, Slot Type, Follow Up X 1 Slot, has 2 Maximum Concurrent Appointments. The Appointment Types that can be scheduled in the Slot are BlockLabFollow up, and Lab Follow up.


View and Use on the Calendar

  • Make the Appointment Shells visible by selecting the Show Appt Shells checkbox on the Settings tab.
  • To retain the Appointment Shells view, save the new view using in the Display Profile panel.
  • Select one of the Shells to add an Appointment.
  • The Appointment replaces the Shell.


Maximum Appointments Warning

  • A Warning displays at the top of the Appointment screen if the Appointment being made is beyond the Maximum Concurrency.
  • The System allows the Appointment to be made if the User has the Allow Overbooking Permission.
  • If the User does not have Allow Overbooking Permission, the Appointment cannot be saved.


Rule for Maximum Appointments

Scheduling Rule was created for the Follow Up Slot to only allow six AM Appointments.

  • Warning: This allows the Appointment to be scheduled if the User has permission in User Maintenance.
  • Error: Warning Displays and the Appointment cannot be saved.

  


Appointment Rules will override the Slot Setup. For example, Even though there are eight Follow Up Morning Appointment Slots on the Calendar, the Appointment Rule only allows six Appointments in the morning.
