Anesthesia System Settings

ANESTHESIA

ACTIVATES THE ANESTHESIA FUNCTIONALITY
System Setting must be added to use Anesthesia Billing.
This setting will activate the Anesthesia Functionality, add a new System Setting Tab, and allow additional customization.
(Admin System Settings General ANESTHESIA > Y)
    1. No and (---): Do not use Anesthesia
    2. Yes: Enable Anesthesia Functionality

    AFINALIZE

    MAKES THE FINALIZE BUTTON VISIBLE
    This Setting prevents Anesthesia Encounters with unfinalized procedures from being included in Claims Batches.
    • When saving Incomplete Anesthesia Encounters, the status will be set to Pending Finalization.
    • No and (---): The Finalize button is not available.
    • Yes: The Finalize button is available when the Finalization criteria has been met.

    AMILITARY

    PRINTS OUT MILITARY TIME, START TIME/END TIME ON HCFA
    • No and (---): Standard Time will be printed on HCFAs.
    • Yes: Military Time will be printed on HCFAs.

    ANESTHESIADESCR

    CREATES THE DESCRIPTION ON THE UNIT CALCULATION BUTTON
    This setting creates the description that will display on the Unit calculation button in the Admin section.

    The System Default is ANESTHESIA and will display as Anesthesia Time Units, but there are non-Anesthesia uses for the calculating Time Units, and this setting can be used to create a more applicable label for the button.

    1. Default: ANESTHESIA
      1. ExampleThe Time Unit Button will be labeled Anesthesia Time Units.
    2. There are many specialties that bill or charge based on the amount of time based with the Patient.
      1. In this case, another label can be entered to replace Anesthesia.

    AUTOADD99100

    ADDS 99100 IF PATIENT'S AGE >=70 OR <= 12 MONTHS
    This setting is used to automatically add procedure code 99100 if the Patient is 70 or older or 12 months or younger.

  • No and (---): The Procedure Code 99100 will never be added automatically.
  • Yes: The Procedure Code 99100 will be added if the Patient's age is greater than or equal to 70 years, or less than or equal to 12 months.

  • Note: Specific procedure exceptions to this rule can be noted in the next setting.

    AUTOADD99100_EXCLUSIONS

    USE FOR CERTAIN PROCEDURE CODES WHERE 99100 CANNOT BE USED REGARDLESS OF AGE

    There are certain procedure codes where 99100 cannot be used.

    • Enter the Procedure Codes where 99100 must be excluded regardless of age.
      • Each code should have a comma separating them with no space.
      • This setting is only relevant if the above setting (AUTOADD99100) is set to Yes.

    CONCURRENCY_CHECKBOX

    ADDS A CHECKBOX TO THE CONCURRENCY DASHBOARD THAT ALLOWS THE USER TO SELECT THE ENCOUNTERS THAT SHOULD BE FINALIZED

    Use this setting to add a checkbox to the Concurrency Dashboard to select Encounters to be finalized.

    This setting is used in conjunction with AFINALIZE and PROVIDERCONCURRENCY.
    1. No and (---): Do not add the checkbox to the Concurrency Dashboard.
    2. Yes: Add the checkbox to the Concurrency Dashboard to finalize Encounters.

    ECLQXUNIT

    EXCLUDE UNIT COUNT FOR QX MODIFIER ON PA REPORT
    This setting will exclude lines that have a QX modifier from the Unit count on the Practice Analysis Report.
    1. No and (---): Do not exclude lines with modifier QX.
    2. Yes: Exclude lines with the QX modifier from the Unit Count on the Practice Analysis report.

    FINALIZEDCONFLICTS

    DISPLAY PRIOR FINALIZED CONFLICTS AND SEND TO WORKLIST
    If there are Procedure Lines that have conflicts with prior Finalized Claims, they will appear on the Visit Concurrency screen and can be sent to a Worklist.
    1. No and (---): Do not display finalized conflicts on the Visit Concurrency screen.
    2. YesDisplay finalized conflicts on the Visit Concurrency screen and allow them to be sent to a Worklist.

    MAXDISCONTINUOUSTIMES

    ADDS ABILITY TO USE MULTIPLE SETS OF START AND END TIMES

    Enter the maximum number of start and end times.

    1. Enter the number of sets (the most often used is 3).
      1. Entering 3 would allow 3 different start and end times.
      2. Calculated Value: 1 Start/End Time = 1 set

    MILITARYTIME

    TREAT ALL TIME ENTRIES AS MILITARY TIME

    This setting controls the use of Military Time in time entry.

    • Yes: Activates military time
    • No (---): Standard Time (This is the default).

    OUTPUTANESTHESIA

    DISPLAYS MINUTES INSTEAD OF TOTAL UNITS
    • The Units populate ANSI Loop 2400 and HCFA Box 24G.
    • Yes (---): Changes Time to Units
    • No: Does not change Time to Units

    PROVIDERCONCURRENCY

    ADD THE PROVIDER CONCURRENCY BUTTON IN THE PROCEDURE TABLE ON THE ADD/MODIFY CHARGE SCREEN AND WILL ADD THE BILLING PROVIDER FIELD AT THE LINE LEVEL

    This enables the Provider Concurrency button on the Charge Entry screen.

    • Allows multiple Times to be added for MDs and CRNAs based on the Anesthesia Codes in the Procedure table.

    • Any Procedure Line that has a different Billing Provider than the Claim level Billing Provider will be split into their own Encounters upon saving.

    No and (---): Do not add the Provider Concurrency button to the Charge Entry screen.

    Yes: Enable the Provider Concurrency button on the Charge Entry screen when entering Anesthesia Charges.

    QXSELFZERO

    SELF-PAY QX MODIFIER LINE SET TO ZERO FEE UPON FINALIZATION

    Updates Self-Pay Procedure line fees to $0.00 when Modifier QX is added.

    1. No and (---): Do not update the fee on a procedure line when Modifier QX is used for a Self-Pay service.
    2. Yes: Set the fee to $0.00 if the procedure line contains Modifier QX on a Self-Pay service.
