Skilled Nursing Facility Case

If the claim needs to be sent to a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) for direct payment to the practice instead of the patient's insurance, use the following workflow.

Add SNF as an Insurance

  1. In the Insurance Library, click Add to enter an SNF Insurance.
  2. Insurance ID:  SNF
  3. Type: Insurance Company (IN)
  4. Abbreviation SNF
  5. Insurance name:  Skilled Nursing Facility
  6. Claims Payer ID: PRINT
  7. Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Form Type:  HCFA
  8. Click  Save (F2).

Add SNF Insurance to Patient

  • Add an Insurance Profile with the SNF Insurance that was added to the Insurance Library.
  • Make this Policy status  Active instead of Default.

Add the SNF Case to the Patient Dashboard

  1. Add a case on the Patient Dashboard by clicking the Cases link.
  2. Create a custom Type for Skilled Nursing Facility and Save.
  3. Choose the SNF Custom Type.

Using the Case

The case can be added from the Appointment screen or from the Add/Modify Encounter screen by choosing the Case for SNF.
  • When scheduling an Appointment, choose the SNF Case.
  • On the Post/Modify Charge screen, choose the SNF Case.
