Patient Types and Patient Codes

There are two ways in Patient Demographics to flag Patients:

  • Patient Type
  • Patient Code

Patient Type and Code can be used together or used separately to identify Patients who meet certain criteria.

Example: Patients have Medicaid and are diabetic.

  • Patient Type = Medicaid
  • Patient Code = Diabetic

Use the Custom Patient Query Report to run a list of Patients who have Medicaid and are diabetic.

Add a New Patient Type or Patient Code

  1. In the Demographics panel on the Patient Dashboard, select the Modify link.

  1. In the Additional Info Panel, select the Lookup icon beside Patient Type or Patient Code.

  1. Select the Add button.

  1. Enter a short Identifying Code. (Required)
  2. Enter a Description.
  3. Select Save [F2].

You will now be able to select the new Code.
