Save an Encounter as Incomplete

From the Encounter Modify screen, you can force an Encounter to stay in the Incomplete bucket to close (complete) at a future time. If you do not close this type of Encounter during the accounting period, it appears in a Work List for Period Analysis and Closing.

  1. From the Charge Type dropdown list on the Modify Charge screen, select Incomplete.
  2. Click Save (F2).

  1. In the Popup, enter the Reason for selecting incomplete.

  2. Click Save or press F2.


A Custom Encounter Claim Status can be created to choose at the bottom of the Modify Charge screen (located at the bottom of the Post Charge screen). Any status other than IP03 (Ready for Submission) prevents the claim from being batched in a Claims Batch. Once a claim has been saved as a completed charge, the Encounter Claim Status is no longer available on this page.

Any status other than Ready for Submission prevents the claim from being gathered in a Claims Batch.


To add and manage Statuses, click Libraries and then click Claim Status.

  1. Click Add.

  2. Create the Status.

  3. Select the checkbox to make Available in Charge Entry.

  4. Click Save (F2).
