Order Procedure Lines by RVU

Order Procedure Lines by RVU

By default, the Procedure lines are ordered as entered in the Add/Modify Charge screen. When using RVUs, the lines can be ordered by RVUs.

  • There must be a Work RVU Fee Schedule loaded.

  • System Setting: Admin > System Settings > Charges > LINEORDER. This setting controls the ability to reorder the Procedure lines in Charge entry based on the RVU value.

    1. RVU Order: Arrange the charge lines in RVU order, from highest (line 1) to lowest.

    2. E&M Line 1, then RVU Order: Place the E&M code as Line 1, then the RVU lines in descending order.

    3. As Entered and (---): Keep the line order based on the order that Charges are entered into the system.

  • Logic:

    • RVU Setting 1 or 2: The highest RVU will be first with the others in RVU descending order.

    • Multiple E&M codes: if option 2 is used, the E&M codes will still be at the top, but in RVU descending order.

    • Multiple Dates of Service on the Charge: The Dates of Services will be grouped accordingly, followed by the E&M and RVU logic. The Logic occurs when the Charge screen is saved.

  • Result of using the 2 RVU options:

    • Post/Modify Charge screen:

      • A new RVU column in the Procedure Table.

      • Reorder button: Use to view what the claim will look like after the Charge screen is saved based on the RVU setting.

      • Lock Line order: The Line Items can be re-ordered and locked so the RVU order option does not occur when saving the Charge screen. This can be used when certain codes must be billed together to get paid properly.

    • Patient Dashboard: A new RVU column in the Procedure panel.
