Link or Unlink Diagnosis Codes on a Specific Line

The line items automatically link to the diagnosis codes in the order that they were entered, but they can be reordered, linked, or unlinked on the individual line items (CPT® codes). They can be changed when the line item is entered or later.

In the Dx Link field, enter the number of the Diagnosis Code(s) that apply to this particular CPT code.

  1. On the Modify Charge screen, click the line item number of the CPT to link the Diagnosis Codes.

  2. In the DX Link field at the bottom of the Modify Charge Line screen, enter the Diagnosis numbers to link to that particular CPT.

    • There are no spaces or commas between the numbers or letters.

    • For Diagnoses 1-9: use the actual number.

    • For Diagnoses 10-12, use A for 10, B for 11, and C for 12.

    • Example of linking Diagnoses 1, 2, 10, and 12:  12AC.

  1. Click Save (F2) on the Modify Charge Line screen.

  2. Click Save (F2) on the Add/Modify Charge screen.
