ICD (Diagnosis) Codes Library

ICD (Diagnosis) Codes are pre-loaded in the System before Go-Live.

A miscellaneous (MISC) ICD Code has been pre-added to the System which can be used if there are products sold in the office where a diagnosis code is not needed for a Claim, but is needed to Save the Charge screen.

There may be a few occasions where you need to modify an ICD Code or add one for in-office use only.

Add an ICD (Diagnosis) Code for Internal Use

  1. From Libraries on the Left Side Menu, select the ICD Codes button.

  1. Select the Add button.

  1. ICD10: Enter a short abbreviation.

  2. Description: Enter a short Description of the ICD.

  3. Long Description: Enter a more comprehensive Description.

  4. Patient Facing Description (optional): Enter a description that will appear on Statements and the Patient-facing Portals.

  5. Age Specific: Leave as Not Age Specific.

  6. Sex Specific: Leave as Not Sex Specific.

  7. Validity: Leave as Valid.

    • Not Valid is used when there is an ICD Code that is not specific on Claims, and you want to prevent the use of it.

    • A Validation Error will be produced if it is used.

  8. Effective/Expiration Dates (optional): Use if applicable.

  9. Select Save [F2].

Modify an Existing ICD Code

Since ICD Codes are auto-updated yearly, there are not many occasions where the ICD Codes need to be modified.

These are some examples when the ICD may need to be modified:

  • Change the Description for internal use.

  • Add a Patient-Facing Description.

  • Make a ICD Code Invalid because you do not want it to be used.

  • Add an Effective Date and/or an Expiration Date.

    • Entering an Expiration Date can be used to keep a ICD Code from being used.

Modify

  1. From Libraries on the Left Side Menu, select the ICD Codes button.

  1. Find the ICD Code that you want to Modify using the Filters.

  2. Select the ICD Code link.

  1. Make the changes.

  2. Select Save [F2].

Keep in mind that changing an ICD Code could cause your Claim to be denied.
