Fee "Increase By" Examples

Increase By Percentage

Calculation: Base Fee + (Base Fee x Increase By Percentage)= Fee

  • Base Fee: $200
  • Increase By 150%

Example 1

Increase the Base Fee by a Percentage: Increase the Base Fee of $200 by 150% with the end result being $500. In effect, you are adding to the Base Fee the Percentage of the Base Fee.

  • Increase By Calculation:
  • $200 + ($200 x 1.5)
  • $200 + $300
  • $500

If you want the end result to be a percentage of the Base Fee (not increased by)

  • The Base Fee is $200 and you want your end fee to be $300, which is 150% of $200. In effect, you are increasing the fee by 50%.
  • Percentage of Base Fee System Calculation:
  • $200 + ($200 x (1.50 - 1.00)) (Subtract 100% from 150% = 1.50 - 1.00)
  • $200 + ($200 x .5)
  • $200 + 100
  • $300

Example 2:

Increase the Base Fee of $228 by 20%

  • $228 + ($228 x .20)

  • $228 + 45.60

  • $273.60

Decrease the Base Fee to equal 20% of $228 for your self-pay fee schedule with the end result being $45.60.

  • $228 + ($228 x (0.20 - 1.00))

  • $228 + ($228 x (-.80)

  • $228 - $182.40

  • $45.60
